This red wine sangria, or sangria of any kind, is one of those drinks that is best enjoyed with friends. You can also make a pitcher ahead of time and let all the flavors blend together.
If you have any leftovers, which is highly unlikely, this sangria will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days.
You can also use white wine if your prefer, easily changing this out to a white sangria and go with a lighter brandy, like peach.
Use the ratio of 1 bottle of wine, 1/2 cup of brandy and 2 cups of Sprite as your base sangria recipe, with your favorite flavors, and just add your fruits.
Ingredients Needed For Red Wine Sangria
- 1 Bottle Red Wine (I used Cabernet Sauvignon)
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 2 cups Sprite
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 1 lime
- 12 raspberries
- 8 strawberries
- Ice
What Is Sangria?
Sangria is a blended alcoholic drink from Spain. It can be made as a red sangria with red wine, pink, using a blush wine, or white, with a white wine.
Some of the common ingredients found in sangria are:
- Fruit-sliced oranges, peaches, apples, pears, raspberries, strawberries and more.
- Brandy, fruit schnapps or cognac.
- Sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
- Simple syrup, honey, agave nectar or sugar.
- Fruit juice, such as orange or apple.

How To Make Red Wine Sangria
- Wash the fruit
- If you’d like, you can peel the orange, lemon and lime (I didn’t)
- Remove the tops from strawberries and slice in half.
- Fill pitcher halfway with ice. Add fruit first, then wine, brandy and Sprite.
- Serve right away, or let chill for an hour.
